1+1+1=Success

I heard a really great phrase today: "You CANNOT out-exercise a lousy diet." Beleive me, it's impossible. I've watched lots of people try to do it. You can workout until you're blue in the face, but if you're not eating to support your body and its activities, you will not reach your goals. Period.

Every meal you eat should consist of a lean protein, a fibrous carbohydrate, and a healthy fat. Starchy carbs can be added in at times as well. Let's focus on the first three.

Wasabi Salmon Burger

I came across this today in my search for something good and healthy to eat. I'm not a huge fish-eater myself...but this just sounds GOOD. Give it a shot! Tell me what you think.

Healthy Cheating

Whenever I talk about nutrition with clients, it always comes down to the same factor: finding the balance between what you know you should be doing (most people have a fairly good grasp on what's healthy and what's not), and what you are willing to do long term. Find that balance and you're golden. It's about being healthy, AND happy. If you feel like you're in a constant state of starvation and/or deprivation, you will not be happy. And if you're not happy, I can almost guarantee that you won't be healthy.

Would you like vinegar with that?

Here's a little something that made me go hmmmm....

Adding vinegar to a meal is known to reduce its glycemic impact, or the speed at which the carbohydrates are converted into blood glucose. But a new study from the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism offers some welcome details.
